The 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) is all set to begin on Thursday at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium, just two days before the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 kicks off on Saturday. Similar to last year, both T20 leagues will run simultaneously, with the PSL final scheduled for May 3.

This season, however, unfolds under challenging circumstances due to the ongoing Israel-Iran conflict in West Asia. As a precaution, the entire tournament will be restricted to just two venues—Lahore and Karachi—and matches will be held behind closed doors without spectators.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had initially planned for a more expansive edition, especially with the introduction of two new franchises—Rawalpindi Pindiz and Hyderabad Kingsmen. However, those ambitions have not materialized as expected.

Like the previous season, PSL 2026 has also seen a steady migration of players to the IPL, while several overseas cricketers have withdrawn citing security concerns in the region.

The tournament will feature a total of 44 matches, including 40 group-stage games, three playoff fixtures, and the final. The eight participating teams are divided into two groups of four. Each team will play the other three teams in their group twice and face teams from the opposite group once, making it 10 matches per side in the group stage.

At the end of the league phase, the top four teams will qualify for the playoffs, following a format similar to the IPL. The top two teams will face off in a playoff match, with the winner securing a direct spot in the final. Meanwhile, the third and fourth-placed teams will compete in Eliminator 1. The winner of that match will then take on the loser of the first playoff in Qualifier 2, with a place in the final at stake.

In terms of broadcasting, PSL 2026 will not be televised live in India. However, fans can still watch the matches via live streaming platforms depending on their region. In Australia and New Zealand, coverage will be available on ESPN. Viewers in the USA and Canada can tune in through Willow, Willow Sports, and Willow by Cricbuzz. In the United Kingdom, matches will be streamed on ARY Digital, ARY Plus, and Tapmad.

Bangladesh viewers can watch on T Sports and Tapmad, while in Sri Lanka, Dialog Television will provide coverage. In Nepal, matches will be available on Tapmad. For audiences in the Middle East and North Africa, Cricbuzz will stream the games, along with Cricbuzz TV via ELIFE, Switch TV, and StarPlay. The rest of the world can access the tournament through Tapmad.
